What you'll do

  • Conduct regular safety inspections on construction sites to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Identify potential hazards and unsafe practices, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with project managers to develop and implement safety plans tailored to specific projects.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on safety procedures, equipment usage, and emergency response protocols.
  • Investigate accidents and near‑misses to determine root causes and develop strategies to prevent future occurrences.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training sessions, ensuring all documentation is up to date.
  • Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure that all workers are trained in its proper usage.
  • Stay informed about the latest safety regulations and industry best practices, integrating them into company policies and procedures.
  • Participate in safety meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of the company's safety culture.
  • Assist in the preparation of safety reports for management, highlighting trends and areas for improvement.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies during inspections and audits, ensuring all necessary documentation is readily available.
  • Foster a proactive approach to safety, encouraging employees to report hazards and suggest improvements.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a safety inspection role within the construction industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey safety information to diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while also being self‑motivated.
  • Certification in safety management or a related field (e.g., CSP, CHST) is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in using safety inspection software and tools to document findings and track compliance.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and on different types of construction sites.

Nice to have

  • Experience with environmental safety regulations and practices.
  • Familiarity with construction equipment and materials.
  • Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish, to communicate effectively with a diverse workforce.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within safety management.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting and documentation.
  • Familiarity with safety management software and tools such as iAuditor or SafetyCulture.
  • Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies and safety audit processes.
  • Ability to conduct safety training sessions and workshops effectively.
