What you'll do
- Conduct regular safety inspections on construction sites to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
- Identify potential hazards and unsafe practices, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
- Collaborate with project managers to develop and implement safety plans tailored to specific projects.
- Provide training and guidance to employees on safety procedures, equipment usage, and emergency response protocols.
- Investigate accidents and near‑misses to determine root causes and develop strategies to prevent future occurrences.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training sessions, ensuring all documentation is up to date.
- Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure that all workers are trained in its proper usage.
- Stay informed about the latest safety regulations and industry best practices, integrating them into company policies and procedures.
- Participate in safety meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of the company's safety culture.
- Assist in the preparation of safety reports for management, highlighting trends and areas for improvement.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies during inspections and audits, ensuring all necessary documentation is readily available.
- Foster a proactive approach to safety, encouraging employees to report hazards and suggest improvements.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a safety inspection role within the construction industry.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey safety information to diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while also being self‑motivated.
- Certification in safety management or a related field (e.g., CSP, CHST) is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in using safety inspection software and tools to document findings and track compliance.
- Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and on different types of construction sites.
