We are currently recruiting for a Boarders Chef to join our team at one of our independent schools in York, YO24 4DD.

Requirements:

  • Have experience working in a similar role and environment
  • Be highly organised and comfortable working in a high-pressured environment
  • Ensure you have high standards of food hygiene and follow the rules of health and safety
  • Keep up standards of hygiene and ensure all areas are clean and tidy
  • Have excellent customer service and social skills
  • Be responsible for the preparation and serving of food to staff
  • Have a can do attitude and will work well as part of a team of 8
  • Be customer focused
  • Be willing to participate and enjoy working as part of the team

This is a permanent, term-time position working 14 hours per week. The hours will be: 7am to 2:30pm Tuesday & Wednesday.

We work in office restaurants, independent schools and at conference venues with the same high-end ethos throughout.

We are looking for a positive, honest and reliable individual to join our friendly and hardworking team. For the right candidate, we offer excellent training and genuine opportunities for development and progression within our team. In this role, you will support the Chef Manager with the preparation and service of meals for approximately 300 boarding students each day. All of our food is freshly prepared from scratch, with bespoke menus designed by our chefs to deliver exciting, on-trend breakfast, lunch and supper options. We take pride in using seasonal, locally sourced ingredients to create high-quality, nutritious dishes.

Proposed start date: 10th March 2026.
