Your new role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing Corporate Finance team, supporting a broad range of transactional projects across both Transaction Support and Lead Advisory (M&A) engagements. Within the M&A team, you will develop your corporate finance expertise while working with a diverse portfolio of businesses across the Thames Valley and beyond. You will support clients with acquisitions and disposals, equity and debt fundraising, and management buyouts (MBOs), helping them achieve their strategic objectives.
Within Transaction Services, you will work alongside Directors on financial due diligence assignments for corporate and private equity clients. You will support senior colleagues on large, complex transactions and, on smaller engagements, act as the principal day-to-day contact for clients and target businesses, helping to deliver high-quality advice throughout the transaction lifecycle.

The role offers strong exposure to client-facing work, financial analysis and deal execution, with responsibility for supporting transactions from initial analysis through to completion. It involves working closely with clients, negotiating and communicating effectively with senior stakeholders, both internally and externally, while delivering high-quality insights that help clients make informed strategic decisions. The position requires the ability to perform well under pressure, manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines, while developing strong corporate finance expertise.

Duties & key responsibilities:

  • You will support the team in all aspects of advisory/transaction services work
  • Annual Input to WIP target of Β£175,000 (broadly 85% utilisation for 45 weeks)
  • Producing accurate clear analysis of target businesses through the production of databooks
  • Communicating the key issues and themes of your analysis accurately and concisely in our reporting format
  • Identify key issues impacting transactions at an early stage and be able to plan for numerous outcomes and present solutions to the client
  • Have some understanding of typical deal structures involving financial buyers or trade buyers and of common issues that arise
  • Assist in the project management of a transaction process throughout and ensure the day-to-day requirements of a deal process are being fulfilled
  • Undertake detailed research on companies and associated sectors, analysing trends, opportunities, potential transactions and potential investors/buyers
  • Prepare Information Memorandums, business plans and Funding packs/documentation
  • As you progress in role, modelling integrated operating financial models, funding models (including the appropriate equity/debt funding overlays) and financial models suitable for the appraisal of investment opportunities or buyouts
  • Establish and grow a network of key contacts and participate in the marketing initiatives of the team
  • Actively participate in practice development activities and deal origination initiatives
  • Maintain CPD requirements with additional personal development focussed on deal mechanics and transaction structures

Skills & abilities:

  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to identify problems and make contribution to solutions
  • Be well versed with Excel and with interest in developing financial modelling skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess exceptional interpersonal skills required for regular client and contact liaison throughout deal processes, managing legal advisors and other specialist advisors

Knowledge & experience:

  • ACA / ACCA qualified
  • 3+ years of audit or accounting experience
  • Some Transactional Services or M&A experience preferable but not necessarily critical
