This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing Tax team, working with a diverse portfolio of individuals, families, trustees and executors.

You’ll manage a varied mix of compliance and advisory work across personal tax, inheritance tax, trusts, estates and probate, while building long-term relationships with clients and providing practical, high-quality advice.

This is a client-facing role that requires excellent communication skills, strong technical expertise and the confidence to guide clients through complex tax matters.

You’ll work closely with Directors and colleagues across the wider firm, supporting compliance, advisory projects and contributing to the continued growth of the Tax team.

Duties & key responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients, delivering both compliance and advisory services.
  • Review and oversee personal tax compliance work, ensuring deadlines are met and work is completed to a high standard.
  • Manage the tax aspects of probate and estate administration, supporting executors and beneficiaries throughout the process.
  • Prepare / review inheritance tax returns, including IHT400 and IHT100 returns where appropriate.
  • Prepare / review applications for the grant of probate or letters of administration. Oversee estate administration including preparing / reviewing estate accounts.
  • Provide advice on inheritance tax, trusts and estates taxation, and wider private client tax matters.
  • Support Directors with technical advisory work and the preparation of client advice.
  • Liaise with HMRC and other professional advisers on behalf of clients.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and meetings.
  • Manage workflow, work in progress (WIP) and billing across your client portfolio.
  • Identify tax planning opportunities and introduce clients to other specialist services across the firm where appropriate.
  • Support business development activities where appropriate
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the business to deliver an outstanding client experience.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge through continuing professional development.

Skills & abilities

  • Strong technical knowledge of personal tax, including inheritance tax, trusts and estates.
  • Essential experience managing the tax aspects of probate and estate administration.
  • Ability to manage multiple client relationships and competing priorities effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality work.
  • Ability to identify tax planning opportunities and provide practical, commercial advice.
  • Confident working collaboratively with colleagues and external advisers.

Knowledge & experience

  • CTA qualified or ATT qualified with minimum 9 years relevant tax experience
  • Experienced Probate Practitioner
