We are seeking a professional and vigilant Security Control Room Officer to join our 24-hour security team at the Science Museum. Working a 4-on, 4-off rota covering both days (06:30–18:30) and nights (18:30–06:30), you will play a key role in ensuring the safety, security, and smooth operation of the Museum estate. Based in the Security Control Room, you will support the monitoring and coordination of security systems, incident response, and communication across teams, helping to protect our people, collections, and facilities in a dynamic environment.
About the Role
- Monitor CCTV systems to deter and detect incidents, ensuring safety of visitors, staff, and contractors
- Respond to alarms (fire, intruder, panic, and access control) in line with procedures
- Coordinate incident response by dispatching security staff and updating supervisors
- Maintain accurate records including incident logs, Daily Occurrence Book (DOB), and reports
- Support emergency procedures, including evacuations and first aid incidents
- Manage communication via phone, radio, and email, providing clear and professional responses
- Process access requests, issue staff passes, and handle contractor/visitor enquiries
- Identify and report faults across security and life safety systems to relevant teams
