Location: Site-based at Hinkley Point C, Somerset
Contract type: Permanent
Salary: £15.10 per hour (progressing to £17.07 upon completion of the WJ Progression Pathway)
Shift pattern: 4 on 5 off, 5 on 4 off (days 06:00–18:00, nights 18:00–06:00)
We are looking for a motivated operative to support construction logistics at the nuclear power development site.
Responsibilities
- Housekeeping of buildings and compound areas to support engineering tasks.
- General receipt of items, receipt and put away of incoming materials.
- Stock control, controlled issue of all stores, and periodic stock checks.
- Posting of correct signage in buildings.
- Fire signage and safety compliance support.
- Moving material from buildings to various compounds and assisting with vehicle manoeuvring.
- Providing general support to contractors on-site.
- General vehicle maintenance & housekeeping.
- Identifying maintenance requirements for tooling or electrical items (Calibration/PAT/Inspection).
- Carry out any other reasonable request as required by Line Manager.
Key Requirements
- A CITB Operative H&S test (to be completed before start date).
- Good communication skills.
- Understanding of Safe Systems of Work and ability to think and act quickly in unsafe conditions.
- Ability to maintain a good work ethic and routine.
- Teamwork orientation.
Desirable
- Experience in the construction industry.
- Valid Driving Licence.
- Knowledge of mechanical & electrical tooling and consumables.
- Understanding of logistics limitations and regulation.
Site Specific Information
- Must provide a 3‑year work history and undergo required vetting in line with HPC protocols.
- Must obtain the HPC pass.
- Remote site – bus journey of 45 minutes each way required.
