Overview
Logistics Chargehand (Blue Hat) – PM – Buildings at Wilson James. Location: Site-based at Hinkley Point C. Contract Type: Permanent. Salary: £23.28 per hour. Working Hours: 39 hours + 1 hour overtime. Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday 14:00 – 22:30. Reporting to the Logistics Manager.
What You Will Do
- Supervise general operatives (ratio 1:8) ensuring they work safely in line with RAMS, DABS and HPC processes while meeting client requirements.
- Conduct daily briefings, ensuring operatives understand tasks and hazards.
- Inform operatives of changes related to site duties or requirements; sign off POWRA where required.
- Supervise HR building site set ups and housekeeping; manage material movement from off-loading points to HR work areas.
- Oversee waste segregation and removal; manage fire points, consumables, and signage within the building; ensure 100% photo evidence for delivered materials and signatures on delivery notes.
- Oversee winterisation processes during cold/freeze conditions; complete daily check sheets and report defects for audit and data recording.
- Deliver familiarisation/competency training and maintain audit records; ensure plant/equipment is maintained and stored securely when not in use.
- Provide weekly tool-box talks (TBTs) and perform additional duties as requested by the line manager; ensure team compliance with HPC code of conduct.
- Coordinate and implement fire and emergency arrangements throughout the building.

- Experience working in a centralized construction logistics team.
- Knowledge of material coordination processes; ability to act quickly in emergencies or under pressure.
- Ability to deliver clear verbal and written reports; high standard of personal presentation; reliable with strong time management.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience; understanding of equality and diversity principles relevant to visitors and employees.
- Interest in and commitment to Wilson James and its clients; previous supervisory experience.
- SSSTS (or working towards), CITB Supervisor H&S test (must be completed before start date), basic IT skills.
