Due to continued growth and the mobilisation of a major flagship construction scheme, we are seeking an experienced and dynamic Transport, Safety & Sustainability Manager to join our senior project leadership team. This is a unique opportunity to shape the health, safety, environmental, sustainability, and social value strategy on a high-profile construction development.
About the Role
You will work collaboratively with operations teams, subcontractors, local authorities, project stakeholders, and community representatives to ensure the project is delivered safely, responsibly, sustainably, and with minimal impact on the surrounding environment and local residents. The role requires a proactive leader capable of driving continuous improvement across HSEQ and sustainability functions while promoting positive relationships both internally and externally.
Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the company Health & Safety Management System.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation including CDM regulation and ISO standards.
- Conduct audits, inspections, and site safety reviews across logistics operations.
- Conduct incident investigations and produce detailed reports with corrective action plans.
- Drive behavioural safety initiatives and promote a positive reporting culture.
- Deliver inductions, toolbox talks, and HSE briefings.
- Support operational teams with RAMS reviews and risk mitigation strategies.
- Develop and implement the project sustainability strategy aligned with client ESG objectives.
- Coordinate sustainability reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
- Act as the primary point of contact for community concerns and engagement activities.
- Organise local engagement events, site visits, educational initiatives, and stakeholder meetings.
- Prepare community engagement reports and stakeholder feedback summaries.
- Support local employment, apprenticeships, and skills development programmes.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a senior Health & Safety role within Construction logistics or Major projects.
- Strong understanding of UK HSE legislation and compliance requirements.
- Experience managing sustainability and environmental initiatives on live construction projects.
- Previous stakeholder or community engagement experience.
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Excellent knowledge of CDM Regulations.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Experience conducting audits, investigations, and compliance reporting.
Desirable
- IEMA qualification or environmental management certification.
- ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 auditing experience.
- Membership of IOSH and/or IEMA.
- Experience working on major infrastructure or urban regeneration schemes.
- Social value or ESG reporting experience.
- Mental Health First Aid qualification.
- Knowledge of FORS, CLOCS, or construction logistics best practice.
