We are representing a specialist, growth-focused B2B distribution business supplying into the construction sector. The business is part of a larger group but retains an agile, entrepreneurial operating style. Following continued investment and a move towards a more structured, scalable branch model, the business is seeking commercially driven General Manager in South Wales.

The opportunity:

  • Lead a branch-based sales and operations team within a specialist distribution environment.
  • Drive sales, gross margin, trading profit, customer service and local branch performance.
  • Move the branch from reactive order/quote processing towards proactive customer ownership and account development.
  • Work closely with external sales, commercial, technical and operations colleagues to present as one joined-up team.
  • Join a business that is investing in systems, people, capability and future branch growth.

What we are looking for:

  • A hands-on, sales-led branch leader from B2B distribution, merchanting, trade supply or a comparable branch-based environment.
  • Construction, civils, specialist products or merchanting experience would be useful, but exact product background is not essential.
  • Someone structured but adaptable: able to bring rhythm, discipline and accountability without slowing the business down.
  • Strong people leadership: coaching, one-to-ones, motivation, performance management and team development.
  • Commercial awareness around P&L, sales pipeline, margin, cost control, service and customer retention.
