We are recruiting for a Community Liaison / Social Value Officer to join our team on a full-time permanent basis. This role centres on community engagement and social value delivery across Civil Engineering and Infrastructure projects.
Purpose Of Role
The role involves establishing strong relationships with stakeholders, supporting social value commitments, contributing to tenders, and ensuring accurate reporting of social value. We’re looking for candidates with experience in community engagement, social value or stakeholder relations preferably within the construction or civil engineering industry.
The Role
- Act as a point of contact for residents, businesses, local authorities, and community groups.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Identification and mapping of key stakeholders, including local communities, government bodies and other relevant organisations.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of stakeholder communication plans, ensuring timely and effective communication throughout project lifecycles.
- Participate in stakeholder meetings and public engagement sessions.
- Plan and deliver community events, school engagement, and site visits.
- Respond professionally to public enquiries, feedback, and concerns, supporting the project public liaison officer when required.
- Build positive, lasting relationships in the communities surrounding project sites.
- This role will require regular travel to project sites across the region, with flexibility for occasional evening or weekend commitments particularly around community events.
Social Value Delivery
- Deliver project specific social value plans including local recruitment, skills development, volunteering, and engagement with local SMEs and social enterprises.
- Work with internal teams and subcontractors to embed social value into project delivery.
- Engage with community organisations and charities etc. to deliver benefits locally.
- Ensure delivery is aligned with frameworks such as the National TOMs, CCS, and bespoke client specific models.
Social Value Reporting
- Collect and track data on social value activities and community engagement outcomes.
- Prepare accurate and timely reports for internal stakeholders, clients, and external platforms (e.g., Social Value Portal).
- Create case studies and visual materials to communicate impact.
- Support audits and reviews by maintaining well organised and compliant records.
Support To Tendering And Preconstruction
- Collaborate with bid and estimating teams to develop assist with social value responses for tenders and prequalification documents.
- Research local needs and stakeholders.
- Provide supporting evidence and examples of previous social value success.
- Attend events and presentations as required.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with current legislation, CCS Code of Considerate Practice, and client requirements.
- Support preparations for CCS site audits.
- Feedback lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement processes.
