We are seeking an additional Practice Nurse to join our existing team. A great chance to up-skill. We are a forward-thinking training practice in a diverse area, which is open, green and close to London. We look after 16,000 patients and offer a full range of primary care services, based in a beautiful new surgery. Our dynamic team comprises of two nurses, one ANP and an HCA (currently recruiting another). We have room for another Practice Nurse, whether experienced or moving from another sector (in which case training would be arranged).
You will provide the full range of nursing tasks (subject to training) in what is always a varied and interesting job. You will be flexible and willing to adapt in the fast-moving health service. You will be a conscious learner, keen to learn new skills. You will be a good team player, supportive of your colleagues (who will be supportive of you). You will have good IT skills. NHS Pension available.
Main duties of the job:- Providing assessment, screening and treatment services and health education advice.
- Help organise and co-ordinate the provision of nursing services for the practice as part of the nursing team.
- Provide nursing treatments and procedures to patients in participation with the GPs or independently to agreed protocols.
- Participate in Chronic Disease management to practice protocols, referring to or liaising with the patients' usual GP as needed.
- Provide general and specific health screenings and assessments to the practice patients within agreed protocols liaising with the GPs as necessary concerning risk factors or other items identified.
- Triage patients and treat those with minor illness as needed.
- Advise and educate patients on general health care with referral to or liaison with GPs as necessary.
- Maintain a collaborative, supportive and holistic approach to patient care at all times.
- Arrange for and perform appropriate tests as indicated such as blood, swabs etc.
- Make referrals as necessary to other health and social care professionals.

Job responsibilities:- To be an autonomous professional working to the highest standards and an integral member of the practice team caring for patients registered with the practice, carrying out duties within the role of Practice Nurse to include diagnosis, examination and treatment of patients, preventative care, screening and patient education.
- All work to be carried out within your areas of competence and within the practice policies and procedures.
- Where your skills do not meet the needs of the practice as outlined below, appropriate training will be given.
- Record of ongoing professional development.
- A good range of general nursing skills.
- Knowledge of NHS, Government initiatives.
- Experienced in minor illness advice and management.
- Good Standard of Education.
- RGN or equivalent.
- Experience in offering health promotion advice.
- Previous experience in taking cervical smears.
- Practice Nurse experience and training.
