Interim Part-time MLRO (2 days a week on an initial 6-month contract)

International Money Transfers

Location: Remote (UK)

Salary: £75k - £90k FTE

What’s in it for you?

Whilst this is an initial 6-month fixed term contract, there is a very strong probability that it will become a permanent position. You effectively get to ‘try before you buy’! It’s also a remote role so there’s plenty of flexibility to work from home. And you can shape the part-time hours (2 days per week) around any personal commitments to suit you.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be working with a start-up international money transfer business (API licensed) and will continue to maintain and develop proportionate, robust Financial Crime frameworks, policies and procedures in line with relevant regulations. You’ll act as the primary point of contact for all Financial Crime matters, staying ahead of any regulatory developments and advising the business on any associated risks. You'll act as a point of escalation to investigate and report any suspicious activity in accordance with regulatory requirements, including filing Suspicious Activity Reports and liaising with the NCA as and when required. You'll initially manage one direct report, a deputy MLRO, but will then oversee the growth of the Financial Crime function both on and offshore.

What we’re looking for

You’ll be an experienced MLRO with experience in an international money transfers business and a proven track record of maintaining and updating relevant Financial Crime and compliance frameworks, policies and procedures. You’ll have a ‘start-up’ mentality, be commercially astute and be happy operating in a hands-on capacity. You’ll have a strong working knowledge of UK AML/CTF regulations, sanctions, ABC and JMLSG guidance. You must also be available to start immediately or at very short notice.
