If you’re someone who enjoys improving processes, mentoring others, and getting stuck into the detail, this could be a brilliant next step. You’ll be joining a well-established finance team within a successful professional services firm. There’s a real emphasis here on development, both personal and professional, alongside a supportive culture that values your ideas and contribution.

What’s on offer:

The role itself is varied, busy, and offers plenty of scope to make an impact. You’ll be responsible for leading the Legal Cashiering team with a focus on disbursement processes, compliance, and improving operational efficiency. You’ll also act as the main point of contact for disbursement-related queries and audits, working closely with internal teams such as Procurement, Billing, and Working Capital.

Key responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day work of the Legal Cashiering team, ensuring accurate and timely disbursement processing
  • Reviewing and improving disbursement workflows in collaboration with key teams across finance and operations
  • Acting as the go-to person for audit queries around firm disbursements and ensuring financial controls are followed
  • Providing training and support across the wider team to improve understanding of disbursement processes
  • Reviewing and approving new suppliers, bank detail changes, and payment releases
  • Managing credit card and petty cash reconciliations, as well as VAT and withholding tax checks
  • Month-end and year-end processes including reconciliations, manual uploads, and voucher processing

  • Supporting Fee Earners with ledger queries and ensuring compliance with SRA and AML regulations
  • Checking bills, credit notes, and completion statements
  • Managing cash flow and liaising with directors on forecasts and updates
  • Leading on performance management, resource planning, and development within the team

  • Experience as a Legal Cashier, with recent exposure to the SRA Accounts Rules
  • Strong knowledge of disbursement and accounts payable processes
  • A background in professional services or legal finance
  • Experience leading or mentoring a team
  • A good understanding of AML compliance and risk management
  • Confident using Excel and working with large volumes of data
  • Able to communicate clearly and professionally with stakeholders at all levels
  • Well-organised with a calm, methodical approach to managing workloads and priorities
