Audit & Accounts Manager Shipley £50,000 – £60,000 35 Hour Week Hybrid Working An independent chartered accountancy firm in Bradford is looking to appoint an experienced Audit & Accounts Manager. The business has a long-established reputation, a modern way of working, and a varied SME client base across Yorkshire. They’re also known for offering a balanced working environment without the long-hours culture often associated with practice. This position offers a genuine 50/50 split between audit and accounts work, making it ideal for someone who enjoys variety within a structured practice setting. The 35-hour week is contractual and adhered to, and the hybrid working policy offers two days at home a week. Key responsibilities include: Planning and leading audit engagements from initial scoping through to completion Conducting risk assessments and ensuring compliance with FRC standards and ISAs Overseeing fieldwork and managing audit teams on client sites Reviewing work completed by the audit team and presenting findings to clients Acting as the main point of contact during audit engagements Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for a range of clients, including groups Managing year-end processes and preparing corporation tax computations Reviewing work produced by junior team members prior to director sign-off Ensuring accounts and tax filings are completed accurately and within deadlines Coaching, developing and mentoring junior staff Conducting reviews and providing day-to-day support to trainees Attending client meetings and building strong, long-term relationships Identifying advisory opportunities and supporting clients beyond core compliance Participation in firm-wide projects Managing WIP, billing and fee agreements on your portfolio Supporting occasional advisory assignments such as due diligence, forecasting and restructuring What We’re Looking For ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent), with experience working within audit in an accountancy practice environment Strong technical knowledge of UK auditing and accounting standards including UK GAAP, FRS 102 and ISAs Experience managing a client portfolio and working to time-critical deadlines Confident communication skills, able to explain technical matters clearly Ideally experience supervising, mentoring and developing junior staff but this isn’t essential Proactive, client-focused approach with strong relationship-building skills Ability to manage multiple priorities without compromising quality If you’d like to explore this opportunity further, please get in touch for a confidential discussion.
