An established international law firm in the heart of Belfast is lookingto welcome an experienced Legal Cashier to its busy and well-establishedfinance team on a permanent basis.

With a strong reputation in its sector and exciting plans forsignificant growth over the next 18 months, it’s a great time to join abusiness that is going places and could perhaps lead to a perm role eventually.

This is a hands-on cashiering role supporting the team with theday-to-day management of both client and office account transactions. You’ll beresponsible for processing payments and receipts, completing daily bankreconciliations, managing transfers, dealing with multi-currency transactionsand ensuring all activity is processed accurately and in line with SolicitorsAccounts Rules.

You’ll be joining an experienced and supportive finance team and willreport into the Legal Cashiering Manager. The role would suit someone whoenjoys working in a structured environment, takes real pride in accuracy and iscomfortable working to regular deadlines.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supportingthe cashiering team with all aspects of day-to-day legal cashiering
  • Processingclient and office receipts accurately and efficiently
  • Makingclient and office payments via CHAPS, cheque and file upload
  • Processinga high volume of office account transactions, including supplier invoices,disbursements, travel costs and staff expenses
  • Processingtransactions across multiple currencies and international jurisdictions
  • Completingdaily bank reconciliations and resolving any discrepancies
  • Dealingwith client-to-office transfers and ensuring these are processed correctlyEnsuringdeposit interest is paid on each matter when due
  • Enteringand allocating transactions accurately within the finance system
  • Ensuringall information is recorded, coded and filed correctly
  • Liaisingwith other offices, fee earners and internal teams to resolve queries andprovide support
  • Maintainingaccurate supplier records and assisting with supplier queries whererequired
  • Managingpetty cash and firm credit card transactions, including checking receiptsand approvals
  • Assistingwith month-end processes, reconciliations and supporting documentation
  • Ensuringall cashiering activity complies with Solicitors Accounts Rules, VATrequirements and internal financial controls
  • Supportingaudits, reporting and ongoing improvements to processes and controls
  • Ensuringtimetables, deadlines and authorisation processes are followedconsistently

What we’re looking for:

  • End toend experience in a similar Legal Cashier role within a law firm orprofessional services environment
  • Goodworking knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules
  • Basicbookkeeping knowledge and experience dealing with both client and officeaccounts
  • Experiencewith bank reconciliations and payment processing
  • Strongattention to detail and a thorough approach to processes andauthorisations
  • Highlyorganised and methodical, with the ability to manage a busy workload andmeet regular deadlines
  • Clearand confident communication skills
  • Aproactive approach with the ability to use your own initiative
  • Astrong team player who is comfortable building relationships acrossdifferent departments and levels of the firm
