Job Description

Join Ruby House and Make a Difference Ruby House is a nurturing, trauma-informed children's home providing high-quality care for young people with emotional and behavioural needs.

We are looking for an experienced, compassionate, and motivated Senior Support Worker to join our dedicated team and help lead the delivery of outstanding care.

About the Role As a Senior Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the home while leading by example and providing guidance to the staff team.

Your responsibilities will include: Supporting young people in accordance with their care plans, placement plans, and risk assessments.

Acting as a positive role model and promoting positive behaviour.

Leading shifts and ensuring the home operates safely and effectively.

Supporting and mentoring Residential Support Workers.

Building positive relationships with young people, families, and professionals.

Completing high-quality daily records, incident reports, and care documentation.

Promoting education, independence, life skills, health, and emotional wellbeing.

Supporting young people to access education, appointments, hobbies, and community activities.

Administering medication in accordance with company policies.

Ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed at all times.

Participating in team meetings, supervision, and training.

Essential Requirements Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or willingness to complete within required timescales.

At least 2 years' experience working within a children's residential setting.

Good knowledge of safeguarding, Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.

Experience supporting children with trauma, autism, emotional and behavioural difficulties, or complex needs.

Ability to lead shifts and support junior staff.

Excellent communication and report-writing skills.

Full UK Driving Licence (preferred).

Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
