Willmott Dixon is looking to expand our Decarbonisation team and is seeking a Decarbonisation Manager to focus on our Midlands region. Our overall aim is to further develop decarbonisation opportunities to support Willmott Dixon’s overall growth.

You will report to the Head of Decarbonisation and support the growth of the service with a focus on engaging with customers and consultants providing technical support, feedback and proposed solutions. Your leadership will be instrumental in ensuring continuing success and expansion.

Ideally you be based in the Midlands region, but as the role could involve working on national projects you should be prepared to travel. Work life balance is important to us and as our team are national, hybrid working is key to allow you to split your time between home, our offices (Central Birmingham, Nottingham, Coleshill and on occasions London) and visiting sites/customers.

The key responsibilities will include:

Delivery:

  1. Responsibility for the analysis of energy consumption, building information and data across a customer’s asset/building portfolio(s) providing insight and understanding on areas for further investigation, investment, and delivery improvements, establishing effective decarbonisation pathways.
  2. Assist in the creation and development of Decarbonisation Plans/Heat Decarbonisation Plans.
  3. Support customers in the identification and application of external funding opportunities, supporting investment into decarbonisation/low carbon solutions.
  4. Co-ordination and management of the delivery of decarbonisation projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  5. Ensure that customers, contractors, LCO’s & Interiors understand their delivery responsibilities on established projects, effectively monitoring and communicating any changes.
  6. Provide a co-ordinated and joined-up approach, ensuring key stakeholders work together effectively to achieve desired outcomes for customers.
  7. Encourage and support a collaborative and creative working environment, promoting innovation, service excellence and continuous improvements within the Decarbonise Today team.
  8. Liaise and collaborate with Local Construction Offices supporting the development of cost proposals and delivery programmes for identified decarbonisation projects.
  9. Collaborate with the wider business to ensure the decarbonisation agenda is understood and delivered successfully.
  10. Identify and support the establishment of consultant/supply-chain partnerships, ensuring successful appointments in line with internal policies and procedures to support the delivery of decarbonisation projects.

Technical expertise:

  1. Contribute to industry trends, emerging low carbon technologies, and sustainable practices, integrating them into projects, communicating effectively to the wider business.
  2. Strong understanding of building requirements, including Fabric, M & E systems and Low Carbon/Renewable solutions, enabling informed decisions to be made to support delivery improvements.
  3. Excellent understanding of Energy Modelling Processes including Simplified Building Energy Model (SBEM); Dynamic Simulation Modelling (DSM).
  4. Knowledge of the Energy Hierarchy and the principles that surround this, understanding building limitations and nuances with regards to technological solutions.
  5. Responsible for ensuring all Willmott Dixon Policies and Procedures are adhered to throughout the delivery of a project(s).
  6. Identify and develop decarbonisation methodologies, solutions, and decarbonisation pathways in line with customer requirements.

Essential and Desirable Criteria:

  1. Deep knowledge of decarbonisation/energy efficiency/low carbon delivery improvements and solutions.
  2. Basic working knowledge of construction principles, practices, and systems.
  3. Proficient in the use of energy modelling tools and other relevant applications.
  4. Organisation skills, establishing, monitoring, and meeting deadlines, priorities, and goals.
  5. Ability to work within a team environment.
  6. Willing to take responsibility, ownership and accountability.
  7. Experience of working with the Public Sector.
  8. Can constructively challenge others when needed.
  9. Previous experience of M&E.
  10. Ability to identify risks and opportunities.
  11. Valid driving licence.
