Description
Great opportunity to join our GB Retirement practice based in Birmingham (hybrid working) as a Senior Corporate Pensions Director.
In this role you will help achieve the growth strategy of the GB Retirement practice by working on diverse projects, including providing corporate and project based advice for our clients.
The candidate will promote growth across all GB Retirement services, establish relationships with senior individuals across clients and target market organizations, and maintain regular dialogue with them.

The Role
- For each of your engagements, you will either lead the relationship and delivery of the work or act as a credible alternative to the lead consultant(s).
- You will be able to hit the ground running developing and presenting strategic advice and reviewing many aspects of the client work. You will be responsible for managing a team of more junior consultants on large, complex clients and projects.
- We work with diverse clients, involving both trustee and corporate assignments in retirement advice. As a qualified actuary, you will use your experience to advise on valuations, strategy reviews, accounting and other retirement work. Additionally, you will have opportunities to engage with clients on innovative, market-leading projects.
- You will also have a role in developing business from our existing client base and working with new prospects, engaging in broader conversations with both clients and prospects about how our offerings can be beneficial to them
- You will work as part of a team, building relationships and liaising effectively with colleagues. You will take an active interest in the development of more junior staff, delegating effectively and providing development opportunities through mentoring.
- You should manage your workload independently, meeting deadlines and budgets while keeping colleagues and clients informed. Ensure client expectations are met or exceeded, potentially serving as project manager and seeking ways to improve team efficiency and processes.
- You would be expected to become a key contact for the client and their other professional advisors, working in partnership to understand and meet the clients’ needs, and present advice to clients of all sizes.
Qualifications
The Requirements
- Experience working as a qualified actuary on core UK defined benefit corporate actuarial work.
- FIA qualified (or equivalent).
- Experience of business development and sales
- Highly credible in front of clients and prospects with experience of developing successful relationships with key individuals
- Ability to communicate at all levels within the client-facing environment
- Ability to identify appropriate prospective clients across the range of service offerings
- Strong client-service orientation.
- Well organised with the ability to prioritise your own tasks and project manage large teams and projects.
- Proven delegation skills and a desire to coach and mentor junior associates.
- Ability to work both independently and on client teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-starter: interest in continually challenging yourself and willingness to step outside of your comfort zone.
