Overview
In this role you drive the business value of AI and GenAI spend through governance, consumption optimisation, and value measurement while maintaining FinOps for the broader cloud estate. You will lead token economics, provide actionable reporting, and partner with Engineering, Product and Finance to align AI usage with business goals. You’ll shape governance standards and deliver dashboards and forecasts for leadership. This hybrid role in Reigate offers a chance to influence AI cost strategy at scale.

Responsibilities
- Lead Token Economics working group and FinOps initiatives across AI and cloud spend
- Analyse cloud and AI expenditure to identify cost-saving opportunities and maximise ROI
- Evolve FinOps operating model with clear standards, governance, and accountability
- Improve cost allocation, tagging, showback/chargeback to assign consumption to products, platforms and teams
- Provide training and documentation to empower teams to manage resources
- Evaluate Azure services and AI platforms for cost optimisation and faster value realization
- Maintain a balanced optimization pipeline covering AI consumption and traditional cloud levers (reservations, savings plans, rightsizing, etc.)
- Create metrics, dashboards and reports on AI unit economics, token usage efficiency and value KPIs
- Lead forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis for cloud and AI spend
- Conduct FinOps maturity assessments and maintain a roadmap for governance and continuous improvement
- Communicate with stakeholders at all levels including leadership
Key requirements
- Demonstrable experience in AI/ML or GenAI cost management and FinOps or cloud financial management
- Strong understanding of token-based consumption models and pricing
- Experience with Azure Cost Management and cost forecasting/budgeting
- Hands-on experience with Power BI or similar data visualization tools
- Ability to translate data into actionable insights for technical and non-technical audiences
- Independent and proactive with proven ability to drive financial accountability
- Knowledge of AI model pricing structures across providers (e.g., Azure OpenAI, Anthropic)
- Experience with token usage monitoring or metering tools
- Experience in cost allocation, tagging, and ownership modelling
- Strong stakeholder communication and collaboration skills
- FinOps Practitioner certification or equivalent is desirable
