The Data Specialist will play a pivotal role in managing, maintaining, and optimising data across the Outsourcing GB business. This position reports to the Head of Data Strategy and is responsible for establishing and enforcing data integrity, accuracy, and compliance standards in line with regulatory and client requirements while supporting the business in leveraging data for strategic decision-making. The role involves working closely with key internal and external stakeholders to define and deliver high-quality data solutions, streamline processes, and support reporting requirements. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise in data management and analytics with a strong understanding of the pensions industry and regulatory environment.
The Role
- Data Management & Governance
- Assess and enhance data quality governance across the OGB Business
- Implement and monitor data governance frameworks to ensure compliance with FCA, TPR, GDPR, and other regulatory standards and industry good practice.
- Develop and maintain data dictionaries, lineage documentation, and metadata.
- Data Analysis & Reporting
- Extract, transform, and analyse large datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities
- Define policy for producing accurate and timely reports for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies
- Support internal functions with data-driven insights
- Serve as a lead regarding complex data issues and resolution.
- Develop predictive models and dashboards to support strategic decision-making specifically in relation to data solutions and associated reporting
- Process Improvement
- Identify inefficiencies in data processes and recommend improvements
- Collaborate with IT and business teams to optimise data flows and automate processes
- Evaluate and implement tools for data visualisation and analytics
- Support data migration and transformation projects, when required
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Provide training and guidance on data best practices to non-technical stakeholders and client facing teams.
- Translate complex data insights into clear, actionable recommendations for business leaders
- Provide subject matter expertise and technical guidance in data solutions
- Work collaboratively with DSD and operational teams to ensure the robust and timely delivery of data services
- Innovation & Strategy
- Identify opportunities to leverage emerging technologies (AI, machine learning) for data optimisation.
- Contribute to data strategy development aligned with business objectives.
- Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes impacting data management
- Work with the business to develop new and existing data propositions including communications, pricing and deployment
What you’ll bring
- Strong experience in data management within Financial Services, ideally pensions or retirement products.
- Proficiency in SQL and data manipulation tools (e.g., Python, R, or similar).
- Knowledge of pension regulations and reporting requirements.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Detail-oriented and able to cross-check and ensure accuracy of detailed documents
- Confident, motivated self-starter, able to work effectively without close supervision with team members across different locations
- Ability to communicate with all levels of seniority effectively
- Highly professional individual with a strong sense of integrity
- Demonstrable problem solving and analytical skills relevant to a business change delivery role
