We are looking for an experienced insurance professional to become a trusted member of our Global Specialty consulting practice within the wider Insurance Consulting and Technology (“ICT”) line of business who will play an important role in delivering and selling client projects and thought leadership development. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team which will allow you to help set strategic priorities and get involved with broad business and management activities. As such you will be expected to demonstrate entrepreneurial and self-started abilities.
The Global Specialty practice is a team whose purpose is to create innovative solutions for our clients, expand the ICT client propositions and drive a joined-up approach to client relationship management and delivery of high-value consulting projects. The successful candidate will be supporting the Global Specialty team around three main areas:
- Working with the GS management team to progress ongoing initiatives which will include technology-led projects, innovation & market reviews, analytical consulting projects, proposition development and production of thought-leadership/marketing material.
- Working alongside directors and managing directors on specific initiatives, including sales opportunities.
- Delivery of selected client-facing projects, working alongside our Reserving, Capital, and Pricing and Underwriting consultants.
Your Main Responsibilities will be as follows:
Clients- To build a market profile as a representative and advocate of Global Specialty consulting services and software tools.
- Develop a trusted advisor relationship with client contacts through effective communication and efficient, quality execution of projects.
- Actively seek to be involved in a variety of work to ensure a broad skill set (technical, management and client) is maintained and developed.
- Drive the identification of key insights and ensure clear, compelling communication of findings to senior client stakeholders.
- Interface with colleagues from different practices and regions on assignments that reflect the client’s broader business issues.
- Demonstrate commitment to WTW’s professional standards in managing analyses and in communications with clients.
- Use contacts within current network to obtain introductions to new contacts; work to develop supporters for company’s products and services.
- To develop new relevant propositions or to enhance current propositions for Global Specialty clients, leveraging WTW’s toolset and broader intellectual property and resources.
- Lead or contribute to the development of the company’s intellectual capital including plans for taking this to market.
- Have a desire to establish and enhance a public reputation in a chosen specialism through the production of articles and presentations.
- Develop and present proposals to potential clients, demonstrating the commercial value of Global Specialty’s offerings.
- Structure complex client problems into phases, including issue framing, hypothesis development, structured analysis, and deliverable creation.
- Work with Directors and Managing Directors to scope, deliver and manage project teams around market strategy engagements.
- Lead end-to-end problem solving from initial problem definition through to the formulation and communication of strategic recommendations.
- Meet goals for billable hours and intellectual capital development.
- Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams.
- Coach and guide team members throughout project lifecycles to deliver high-impact, actionable recommendations addressing clients’ most critical challenges.
- Serve as a manager and mentor to more junior associates training them on the specificities of Global Specialty insurance markets, including processes, systems and market operations.
What you’ll bring:
- Proven consultancy experience with a strong strategic focus, combined with significant general insurance expertise, ideally gained within Specialty, and/or the London Market, Bermuda, or U.S. Excess & Surplus lines.
- Proven track record in delivering consulting or strategy-focused projects to internal or external clients, or strategically driven solutions such as Capital Optimisation propositions.
- Demonstrate a strong track record in strategic thinking and structured problem-solving, including the ability to develop and test hypotheses to address complex client challenges.
- Experience in proposition development, or in supporting the creation of new client-facing offerings.
- Demonstrated success in selling consulting projects or playing a key role in business development and client acquisition.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to interpret and apply data effectively.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, with a resourceful and adaptive approach to overcoming challenges.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, capable of coordinating multiple workstreams and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distil complex insights into clear, actionable recommendations, particularly through PowerPoint presentations.
- Strong client relationship management capabilities, including experience engaging with senior stakeholders.
- Commitment to WTW’s professional standards, especially in project planning and client communications.
- Self-motivated and accountable, with a consistent ability to lead proposition development and client delivery from start to finish, while also excelling in collaborative team settings.
- Quick learner with a proactive mindset, entrepreneurial spirit, and a strong appetite for tackling new and complex topics.
- Adaptable individual, comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Willingness to work from the office at least three days per week.
- Flexibility to travel domestically and internationally as required.
