As a Business Support Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting the strategic expansion of our Marine Hull team, including our marine construction portfolio. Working within the Mediterranean Hull team, you will contribute to identifying new opportunities, engaging with clients, and supporting the development of tailored insurance solutions for Shipowners and Shipyards. This role is well suited to an individual with a Maritime Studies background (or similar), strong organisational and communication skills, and a desire to build a career in marine insurance, particularly within the Marine Hull and Builder’s Risks segments.
The Role:
- Client & Market Development
- Support the maintenance of relationships with marine hull clients and marine construction stakeholders globally
- Assist senior team members in preparing for client meetings and industry events
- Gather and analyse client information to better understand risk profiles and insurance requirements
- Growth Strategy & Execution
- Work closely with the Mediterranean Hull team to support strategic growth initiatives
- Identify potential new business opportunities through research and internal collaboration
- Support the preparation of proposals and RFP responses
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to inform team strategy
- Technical & Commercial Support
- Assist in the preparation of policy documentation for Marine Hull and Builder’s Risks placements
- Respond promptly and accurately to day-to-day client service requests and new business introductions
- Collaborate with underwriters and brokers to support programme design and placement execution
- Ensure alignment of Marine Hull activities with broader portfolio objectives
- Shipowner & Shipyard Focus
- Develop a strong understanding of Marine Hull and Builder’s Risks to support client engagement
- Assist in reviewing contracts and tailoring insurance coverage under supervision
- Contribute ideas to support the development of innovative insurance solutions for Shipowners and Shipyards
- Team Collaboration & Development
- Support engagement with shipowners and shipyards to obtain project details and timelines
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across broking, underwriting, and servicing teams
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment and ongoing knowledge development
Qualifications

- Previous shipping experience preferred
- Degree in Maritime Studies or a related discipline is advantageous
