As a Financial Accountant within Willis Re’s Financial Control team, you will support a wide scope of financial accounting activities across a number of regulated legal entities in multiple geographies. Core accounting activities will include involvement in the month end close processes, such as preparing journals and reconciliations in our Workday general ledger system and assisting in the preparation of the monthly financial reports. This will extend to assisting in statutory accounts preparation and supporting audit activities.
In addition, this role will have responsibility over certain Treasury and client funds flows. Specifically the daily client and reinsurer premium payments, receipting and reconciliations. This role will also ensure appropriate funding balances are in place between corporate accounts across entities and currencies. Work with partners in WTW Treasury to liaise with banks on banking matters.
As a start‑up business we have the opportunity to ensure we design efficient processes using the latest technologies. As a result, you will be heavily involved in ongoing optimisation and automation activities – including the active project to maximise the automation of the client funds payment and receipting process.
As the finance team is small (but growing), there will be opportunities to be involved across the full breadth of finance activities and various projects throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities- Support the financial close process through posting of journals, performing reconciliations, assisting in the preparation of financial reports.
- Review reinsurance contracts to assess revenue recognition for broking placements.
- Assist in the annual statutory accounts preparation process including supporting the audit process.
- Perform daily fiduciary (i.e., client premium) cashiering processes, recording of receipts, scheduling payments and completing daily reconciliations.
- Manage the liquidity balances across corporate bank accounts, and assist in developing and running cash flow forecasting.
- Involvement in ad‑hoc projects including geographical expansion, the automation of cashiering activities and adaptive planning.
- Qualified accountant.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Good working knowledge of Excel and finance systems.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Ability to manage your own workload and meet deadlines.
- Clear communication skills and a collaborative working style.
