Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain proprietary catastrophe and exposure analytics tools used by the Willis Re Catastrophe Analytics team
  • Lead development and ownership of an in‑house financial engine supporting portfolio analytics, loss analysis and event response workflows
  • Develop and implement Snowflake‑based data workflows and analytics pipelines, including API integrations with third‑party platforms such as RMS and Verisk
  • Collaborate with catastrophe modellers and brokers to translate analytical requirements into robust technical solutions
  • Support the development and implementation of AI‑enabled tooling and analytical workflows where appropriate
  • Support development of reusable modelling pipelines, automation frameworks and analytical products
  • Build tools and workflows using an API‑first architecture approach
  • Produce technical documentation and contribute to development standards and best practices

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in a technical discipline such as Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering or a related quantitative field
  • Proven experience in software development or data engineering within catastrophe modelling or insurance analytics environments, including use of vendor model APIs (e.g. RMS, Verisk)

  • Strong programming and data skills (e.g. Python, SQL) with experience building scalable data and automation workflows on large datasets
  • Knowledge of catastrophe model data formats and databases (SQL)
  • Ability to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions, supported by strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
  • Comfortable using modern AI tools to support and accelerate the development lifecycle

Desirable

  • Experience building or contributing to AI‑enabled tools, such as AI agents or assistive analytics solutions, to augment data or modelling workflows
  • Familiarity with insurance and reinsurance data structures, including exposure, portfolio, and results data
  • Experience building financial engines or portfolio analytics platforms
  • Experience creating geospatial visualisations
  • Working knowledge of modern data platforms and cloud‑based analytics environments (e.g. Databricks, Snowflake, or similar)
