Willis Re is seeking a technically strong and commercially minded Senior Product Developer to join our Analytics team in London. This is a hands‑on development role focused on building the next generation of catastrophe modelling tools, workflows and analytical products that support our global reinsurance business. The successful candidate will work closely with catastrophe modellers, brokers, and technology specialists to design and implement scalable solutions that automate and enhance catastrophe modelling and exposure management workflows. A key deliverable for this role will be the design, development and ownership of an in‑house financial engine used to support catastrophe analytics, portfolio analysis, and event response. The role will also play a central part in expanding Willis Re’s cloud‑based analytics ecosystem, including data ingestion workflows, API integrations and automation tooling. Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain proprietary catastrophe and exposure analytics tools used by the Willis Re Catastrophe Analytics team
  • Lead development and ownership of an in‑house financial engine supporting portfolio analytics, loss analysis and event response workflows
  • Develop and implement Snowflake‑based data workflows and analytics pipelines, including API integrations with third‑party platforms such as RMS and Verisk
  • Collaborate with catastrophe modellers and brokers to translate analytical requirements into robust technical solutions
  • Support the development and implementation of AI‑enabled tooling and analytical workflows where appropriate
  • Support development of reusable modelling pipelines, automation frameworks and analytical products
  • Build tools and workflows using an API‑first architecture approach
  • Produce technical documentation and contribute to development standards and best practices

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in a technical discipline such as Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering or a related quantitative field
  • Proven experience in software development or data engineering within catastrophe modelling or insurance analytics environments, including use of vendor model APIs (e.g. RMS, Verisk)
  • Strong understanding of catastrophe modelling concepts and data, including exposure structures, probabilistic modelling, EP curves, AAL, and PML
  • Strong programming and data skills (e.g. Python, SQL) with experience building scalable data and automation workflows on large datasets
  • Knowledge of catastrophe model data formats and databases (SQL)
  • Ability to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions, supported by strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
  • Comfortable using modern AI tools to support and accelerate the development lifecycle

Desirable

  • Experience building or contributing to AI‑enabled tools, such as AI agents or assistive analytics solutions, to augment data or modelling workflows
  • Familiarity with insurance and reinsurance data structures, including exposure, portfolio, and results data
  • Experience building financial engines or portfolio analytics platforms
  • Experience creating geospatial visualisations
  • Working knowledge of modern data platforms and cloud‑based analytics environments (e.g. Databricks, Snowflake, or similar)
  • Understanding of data pipeline architecture, workflow orchestration, and integration patterns
