The candidate will be joining a team of catastrophe modelling and technology specialists to support the automation and integration of catastrophe modelling workflows across RMS and Verisk platforms. This role is focused on transforming modelling processes into scalable, automated solutions as part of a broader front-to-back-office automation programme. The successful candidate will work closely with the Catastrophe Modelling team and Technology teams to deliver robust and efficient modelling workflows. This is a hands-on development role with a strong emphasis on execution, integration, and delivery. This role is a 6 month Contract.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work with the catastrophe analytics team to design and implement automated, repeatable catastrophe modelling (RMS and Verisk) workflows by translating manual processes into scalable pipelines.
  • Ensure automation solutions are designed using an API‐first approach, enabling the catastrophe modelling pipelines to be modular, reusable, and easily integrated with other systems and tooling.
  • Integrate catastrophe modelling workflows into internal systems (e.g. Igloo) and enterprise data platforms (e.g. Snowflake).
  • Support the design, development, and integration of AI‐enabled tools (e.g. AI agents) to enhance and automate elements of the catastrophe modelling workflow, where appropriate.
  • Work closely with the Catastrophe Modelling team to understand requirements and validate outputs.
  • Collaborate with Technology and programme teams to align solutions with target architecture.
  • Document workflows, tools, and processes to ensure transparency and maintainability.

About you

Essential

  • Proven experience in software development or data engineering within catastrophe modelling or insurance analytics environments, including use of vendor model APIs (e.g. RMS, Verisk).
  • Strong understanding of catastrophe modelling concepts and data, including exposure structures, probabilistic modelling, EP curves, AAL, and PML.
  • Strong programming and data skills (e.g. Python, SQL, JavaScript) with experience building scalable data and automation workflows on large datasets.
  • Knowledge of catastrophe model data formats and databases (SQL).
  • Ability to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions, supported by strong analytical, problem‐solving, and communication skills.
  • Comfortable using modern AI tools to support and accelerate the development lifecycle.
