Our client is looking for a reliable, organised Forwarding Clerk / Freight Co‑ordinator to join a small, close‑knit freight operations team based at Tilbury Docks.

You’ll manage a varied workload across customs liaison, shipping line communication, haulage coordination and client support.

Each team member typically sees their own jobs through from start to finish, while sharing client responsibilities across the department.

  • Customs Clearance Coordination
  • Broad understanding of customs procedures and requirements
  • Liaising with neutral customs broker (no in‑house CDS entries)
  • Completing clearance sheets for forwarding to customs brokers
  • Shipping Line Liaison
  • Managing communication with carriers for FCL and LCL movements
  • Coordinating haulage and ensuring smooth collection/delivery timelines
  • Client & Supplier Communication
  • Acting as a point of contact for updates, queries, and shipment progress
  • Maintaining strong working relationships with customers and service partners
  • Operational Administration
  • Adding charges and costs to job sheets accurately
  • (No invoicing required – handled separately)
  • General Freight Coordination
  • Assisting with occasional international freight consignments
  • Ensuring jobs are completed end‑to‑end with attention to detail Skills & Experience Required:
  • Experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or a similar operational role
  • Working knowledge of customs processes
  • Confidence liaising with shipping lines, hauliers, clients, and suppliers
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple jobs
  • A team player who enjoys shared responsibility and collaborative working
