Our client, a long established UK leader in the design, manufacture and supply of advanced agricultural machinery, is seeking an accomplished Senior Sales Manager to join their growing leadership team, based at offices local to Braintree, Essex.

This appointment offers a rare succession pathway: the right individual will be developed to step into the General Manager role, taking the lead within a business recognised for its technical expertise, specialist machinery portfolio and strong industry reputation.

On Offer:

  • Clear progression pathway into a General Manager position
  • Salary of £60k plus attractive annual bonus opportunity. Salary rising to c.£90K + bonus for the General Manager role.
  • 23 days annual leave to start (Due to harvesting season, no holiday to be taken between beginning of July to end of September)
  • Working Hours 7:30am to 5pm, 5 days a week (Requirement for extra hours at times)

Purpose of the Senior Sales Manager

As Senior Sales Manager you will play a pivotal part in driving commercial growth, shaping market strategy, and ensuring operational excellence across the business. Alongside leading customer solutions, managing revenue performance, and overseeing market development, the successful candidate will be trained and developed to ultimately take over from the General Manager, stepping into full leadership responsibility for the UK operation. With ownership across sales, pricing, customer engagement, and branch performance, this position is designed for an ambitious individual ready to evolve into a senior leadership role, championing the business’ culture, values, and long term strategic direction.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Sales Manager

Sales

  • Developing solutions with the customer based on their requirements and expectations
  • Preparing quotations
  • Supporting the customer through to contract award
  • Managing customer touchpoints (appointments, emails, etc.). Managing customer information and customer-oriented activities
  • Responsibility for Budget. Ensuring revenue and earnings targets are met

Market Management and Development

  • Identifying market trends and requirements. Monitoring competitors and their activities in the sales territory
  • Deriving insights and actionable measures from data
  • Maximizing existing market potential and expanding market presence
  • Monitoring and providing feedback on market requirements
  • Participation in trade fairs, customer events, and roadshows

Operational management

  • Ensuring efficient, goal-oriented branch operations and functions in line with the division of responsibilities
  • Disciplinary and functional leadership of staff
  • Communicating and implementing decisions and setting goals
  • Continuous monitoring of goal achievement, including the determination, proactive communication, and execution of corrective measures

Leadership

  • Exemplify and foster an entrepreneurial spirit and teamwork. Act as a role model; communicate purpose and value
  • Champion corporate culture and values. Be mindful of oneself and one's surroundings (people | resources | time)

Pricing

  • Creation of price lists for local products
  • Annual maintenance of price lists
