Our client, specialists in the handling, storage and logistics of food commodities & metals are looking for an Import Coordinator to join their team based at offices local to Witham, Essex.

Main Purpose of the Import Co-ordinator:

Reporting to the Import/Inbound Manager, the Import Coordinator will be responsible for booking transport of containers, when necessary, carry out a broad range of logistics related administrative duties in order to clear incoming and occasionally outgoing containers as efficiently as possible.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Import Co-ordinator:

  • Customer Service – Internal / External phone calls
  • IT – Excel spreadsheets, Inhouse Operational Cargo wise System
  • Pre-Alerts – Manage Inbound shipments via Sea Freight and occasional Airfreight
  • Occasionally organise Export shipments via Sea Freight
  • Opening New Jobs on internal system for Import / Export
  • Customs Entries
  • Customs Documentation (Certificate of Inspection (Organic), CHEDD, Phytosanitary Certificates, Certificate of Origin)
  • Sending Port Health Documentation
  • Liaising with Customers via email or telephone
  • Monitor progress of shipments from start to finish
  • Arrangement of deliveries with hauliers into our store.
  • Ensure Customer delivery requirements are met including Bonded cargo
  • Job Costings / Invoicing
  • System Updates
  • Analysis Reporting
  • Signing off Files

To be Considered:

  • Have background knowledge of sea freight forwarding / Shipping.
  • Educated to A level standard (desired but not essential GCSE enough)
  • Ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Excel & Word.
  • Must be able to work under occasional pressure and always to a time scale.
  • Able to work with other employees at all level in a fast pace and sometimes noisy environment, work both independently and under instruction.
  • Have a positive outlook.
