Due to increased global growth, our client, a recognised player in the Freight Forwarding and Transportation industry who specialise in offering supply chain and logistics solutions, ground transportation, air and ocean shipments, customs clearance, and supply chain management are looking to recruit a Road Freight Operator to be based at their offices in Basildon, Essex On Offer: * Salary c.£30K, dependant on experience * Working hours: Monday – Friday 08.30 hours – 17.30 hours – one-hour unpaid lunch * 20 days annual leave + public holidays and yearly salary review, * Group personal Pension Plan, Death in Service equal to three times your annual salary, Private Medical Scheme (after 1 year of service and application process required) * Holiday loyalty days up to a maximum of 5 days (1 additional day on the anniversary of the date you joined the company) * One Milestone Day per year to take as you wish * Confidential EAP platform for you and your immediate family members as spouse/partners and children aged 16 to 24 in full-time education, living in the same household * Access to our Employee Discounts and Perks, which includes Grocery Shopping, Holidays, Movies, Sports, Wellness and many more Duties and Responsibilities of the Road Freight Operator: * Understand and execute the road freight departments vision of good business development in order to ensure outstanding customer services to clients * Maintain the operations system ensuring customer bookings are accurately recorded * Maintain regular communication with sales teams reporting new sales leads and handover of shipments * Implement and improve new efficiencies in customer workflow in conjunction with line manager * Maintain key accounts and ensure general enquiries are expedited * Deal with customer/client complaints are expedited in the agreed timeline in accordance with SOPs. * Ensure customer due diligence checks are completed for new customers * Ensure to oversee client management and sub-contractor management in line with polices, practices and procedures. * Ensure all financial transactions in compliance with Alpi organisational policy and procedures, legal requirements, and good practice guidelines. * Ensure to carry out processes, practices in line with policies, practices, and procedures. * Ensure customer Bookings are accurately taken & entered operations system, International, National and cross trade * Provide customers with accurate and cost-effective quotations within a timely fashion * Booking consignments with third party contractors * Quoting cross trade consignments * Liaising with suppliers / Origin Offices and build strong relationships with customers * Invoicing and Administration To Be Considered: * Knowledge of road freight market rates and services, ability to quote accordingly. * Be able to prioritise own workload but also be able to work as part of a team. * Be fully conversant in IT skills e.g., Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and systems. * Have experience with Excel reporting. * Have good understanding of road freight logistics processes and procedures.
