Are you a Lead B1 Licensed Aircraft Engineer looking to take your career to new heights? WASL is expanding, and we’re seeking skilled engineers to be part of a high-performing team delivering essential services across aircraft disassembly, maintenance, storage, and return to service.

We are looking for an experienced and driven Lead Licensed Aircraft Engineer to take a key leadership role in our base maintenance operations. Based in Teesside you will be responsible for supervising and certifying maintenance tasks, leading a team of engineers, and ensuring all maintenance is carried out to the highest safety and regulatory standards on Boeing 737NG and Airbus A320 CEO aircraft right at the heart of our operations at Teesside International Airport.

This is a critical role that combines hands-on maintenance, compliance, and leadership responsibilities. You will act as the primary point of technical authority during base maintenance checks on Boeing 737NG and Airbus A320 CEO aircraft. You'll work closely with other departments to ensure operational readiness and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Act as Certifying Engineer, exercising full privileges under your Part 66 license and company authorisation.
  • Lead and supervise aircraft maintenance activities, ensuring all work is allocated efficiently and completed on time.
  • Oversee the satisfactory completion and certification of all work performed, ensuring full compliance with approved maintenance data and procedures.
  • Serve as a role model and technical mentor to engineers and technicians, providing on-the-job guidance and support.
  • Ensure adherence to health & safety standards at all times.
  • Maintenance in respect of the organization’s MOE & procedures to remain an up-to-date and accurate document reflective of the maintenance organization.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance during audits and inspections, ensuring open and effective communication.
  • Support implementation of the company’s Quality Policy, Human Factors awareness, and Just Culture principles.
  • Maintain facilities and equipment to the required operational and safety standards.
  • Manage and review work packages for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Report and escalate issues through the appropriate internal channels, including occurrence reporting.
  • Promote and contribute to a strong safety culture, actively encouraging hazard reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain and uphold a Just Culture in the approved maintenance organization.
  • Review completed work packages, identify errors and/or omissions, and liaise with maintenance personnel to have appropriate corrections made.
  • Actively support and promote a positive safety learning culture through the reporting of occurrences and potential hazards.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • UK CAA Part 66 License (B1 or B2 & C)
  • Supervisory experience running base maintenance checks.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively using approved maintenance data and within time constraints.
  • Current type ratings on one or more of the following types; Boeing 737NG, Airbus A320 CEO.
  • Knowledge of Part M, Part 145, Part 66 & Part 147.
  • Knowledge of CAMO.
  • HF Qualified.
  • EWIS Qualified.
  • SFAR88 Qualified.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally in the English language.
  • Ability to work IAW-approved maintenance data.
  • Excellent understanding of UK and EASA regulatory requirements.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
