This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Sous Chef to join the kitchen team within a specialist dementia care home, supporting the Head Chef to deliver fresh, nutritious and beautifully presented meals that reflect residents' individual needs and preferences.
Set within a charming property surrounded by landscaped gardens, the home has been thoughtfully designed to support older adults living at all stages of dementia.
You'll work closely with the Head Chef and wider care team, bringing strong culinary skills, organisation and an understanding of catering within a care environment.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience working as a Sous Chef, Senior Chef or Chef within a professional kitchen.
- Previous care home catering experience is highly desirable.
- Experience supporting the day-to-day running of a busy kitchen.
- Good understanding of nutrition and hydration for older adults.
- Knowledge of specialist and texture-modified diets.
- Strong understanding of food allergies, intolerances and individual dietary requirements.
- Excellent food hygiene and food safety knowledge.
- Ability to prepare fresh, nutritious and appealing meals to a consistently high standard.
- A compassionate approach and an understanding of how important enjoyable mealtimes are within a dementia care setting.

Your Role
- Support the Head Chef with the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen.
- Prepare and cook fresh, nutritious and appealing meals for residents.
- Help deliver a high-quality dining experience while respecting individual preferences and choices.
- Cater confidently for allergies, specialist diets and texture-modified meals.
- Support residents' nutritional and hydration requirements.
- Maintain excellent standards of food preparation, presentation and hygiene.
- Assist with stock rotation, ordering and reducing food waste.
- Support and guide other kitchen colleagues when required.
- Work closely with the care team to understand residents' individual and changing dietary needs.
- Step up and support the running of the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence.
