Job Description

Room Leader – Toddler Room

£32,200 per year | Level 3 | Full Time | Good Ofsted

Toddlers are constantly testing what they can do – finding new words, developing independence and becoming more confident exploring the world around them.

Good Ofsted-rated nursery provides an excellent environment for that stage of development, with large, open-plan rooms and fantastic outdoor facilities giving children plenty of space to play, explore and learn. The setting is designed to encourage movement, discovery and choice, allowing children to develop new skills through meaningful everyday experiences.

As Toddler Room Leader, you’ll take ownership of the room and lead your team in creating a nurturing, stimulating environment that responds to the changing needs of this busy and exciting age group.

What We’re Looking For

  • A full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification or above
  • Previous experience working within a nursery or Early Years setting
  • Strong experience working with toddlers would be highly beneficial
  • Room Leader, Senior Practitioner or similar leadership experience would be advantageous
  • Strong knowledge of the EYFS and child development
  • Good understanding of the developmental needs of children within the toddler age group
  • Confidence leading, supporting and motivating practitioners
  • Strong safeguarding and child protection knowledge
  • Good communication skills with families and colleagues

Leading the Toddler Room

  • Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the toddler room
  • Lead and support practitioners to deliver consistently high-quality care and education
  • Create experiences that encourage language, independence, movement and curiosity
  • Plan around children's individual interests, development and next steps
  • Make full use of the nursery's open-plan rooms and outdoor facilities
  • Encourage children to explore, experiment and learn through play
  • Support children's emotional development and growing confidence
  • Maintain a stimulating, organised and age-appropriate room environment
  • Build strong relationships with parents and carers
  • Support and develop practitioners through positive leadership and guidance
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health and safety, and wellbeing

All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements, including an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references, and verification of the right to work in the UK, in line with safeguarding responsibilities.
