Room Leader

Β£29,600 per year | 40 Hours per Week

Some of the best Early Years leadership happens right in the room – supporting your team, spotting opportunities for learning and making sure every child feels confident enough to explore and be themselves.

Set in a beautiful countryside location surrounded by green spaces, this welcoming nursery is looking for an experienced Early Years professional to join as Room Leader.

The nursery features age-specific rooms, thoughtfully arranged to support children through each stage of their development. Curiosity and creativity are encouraged throughout the setting, with children given opportunities to investigate, experiment, make choices and develop their independence through meaningful play.

As Room Leader, you'll take ownership of your room while remaining actively involved with the children, leading your team by example and ensuring consistently high standards of care and education.

What We're Looking For

  • Full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification or above.
  • Previous experience within a nursery or Early Years setting.
  • Experience as a Room Leader, Senior Nursery Practitioner, or an experienced practitioner ready for increased responsibility.
  • Strong understanding of the EYFS framework and child development.
  • Excellent knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Confidence leading, supporting and motivating a room team.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A positive, creative and hands-on approach to leadership.

Make the Room Your Own

You'll have the opportunity to bring your ideas and experience into everyday nursery life while supporting your team to deliver their best practice.

Your role will include:

  • Take responsibility for the smooth day-to-day running of your room.
  • Lead, mentor and support practitioners within your team.
  • Create a warm and engaging environment where children feel secure and ready to learn.
  • Plan and oversee experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity and independence.
  • Ensure the EYFS is delivered effectively and reflects children's individual stages of development.
  • Make the most of the nursery's countryside surroundings and green spaces to inspire outdoor learning.
  • Monitor observations and assessments and ensure children's learning journeys accurately reflect their progress.
  • Build strong relationships with children and positive partnerships with families.
  • Support colleagues with their continued professional development.
  • Work closely with the wider nursery and management teams.
  • Maintain excellent standards of safeguarding, health and safety and Early Years practice.
