Job Description

Deputy Nursery Manager

Up to Β£36,000 per year | 40 Hours per Week | Level 3+

Part of a family-run nursery group, this welcoming setting has been created to give children plenty of opportunities to discover, experiment and learn through everyday experiences. Inside, fully equipped rooms provide stimulating and enriching environments, with resources designed to support children's interests and different stages of development.

Outside is just as important. The nursery benefits from a large play area and garden, with outdoor learning incorporated into everyday nursery life rather than being treated as an occasional activity.

As Deputy Nursery Manager, you'll work alongside the Nursery Manager to support the whole setting, combining leadership responsibilities with a visible, hands-on presence across the nursery.

We're looking for someone who can bring strong Early Years experience and the confidence to support a wider team.

  • Full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification or above.
  • A minimum of Room Leader experience within a nursery setting
  • Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework and child development.
  • Excellent understanding of safeguarding and child protection requirements.
  • Experience leading, motivating and supporting Early Years practitioners.
  • Confidence monitoring standards and providing constructive guidance to colleagues.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to help coordinate the day-to-day operation of a busy nursery.
  • A positive approach to outdoor and child-led learning.

What You'll Receive

  • Annual leave increasing with length of service
  • Competitive annual leave package
  • Pension scheme
  • Wellbeing programme
  • Benefits and discounts portal
  • Staff incentives and recognition
  • Regular team events
  • Ongoing training and professional development
  • Opportunity to progress your management career within a family-run nursery business

What You'll Be Taking On

  • Work closely with the Nursery Manager to ensure the setting runs smoothly each day.
  • Provide guidance and support to Room Leaders and practitioners across the nursery.
  • Lead by example and promote consistently high standards of care and education.
  • Coach and mentor colleagues, supporting their continued development.
  • Monitor the delivery of the EYFS and quality of children's experiences.
  • Encourage teams to make full use of the nursery's expansive outdoor environment as part of everyday learning.
  • Support staffing, routines and organisation across the setting.
  • Build strong relationships with children, families and colleagues.
  • Help maintain high standards of safeguarding, health and safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Contribute to quality improvement and preparation for Ofsted.
  • Support the Nursery Manager with the wider operational needs of the setting.
  • Take responsibility for the nursery in the Manager's absence.

All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements, including an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references, and verification of the right to work in the UK, in line with safeguarding responsibilities.
