  • £14.31 per hour | 30 Hours per Week | Monday to Friday | 9:00am – 3:00pm

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Nursery Chef to join a welcoming early years setting where healthy eating plays an important role in supporting children's growth and development.

This service is looking for a confident and organised chef to take full responsibility for the nursery kitchen.

As the sole cook, you'll be responsible for planning and preparing fresh, balanced meals and snacks for young children while ensuring the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and nutrition are maintained.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of children's dietary requirements, food allergies, and nutritional guidance, helping to create enjoyable mealtimes that support healthy lifestyles from an early age.

  • Previous experience working as a

School Chef , or within a similar childcare or educational setting.

Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate

(or equivalent).

  • Good knowledge of children's nutrition, food allergies, and special dietary requirements.
  • Ability to prepare a varied, nutritious menu using fresh ingredients.
  • Experience managing kitchen budgets and stock control.
  • Excellent hygiene practices and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Calm, reliable, and adaptable with a positive, team-focused attitude.

  • Prepare fresh, nutritious meals and snacks for children each day.
  • Plan and produce a varied four-week rolling menu using wholesome, home-cooked recipes.
  • Cater for individual dietary requirements, allergies, and cultural preferences.
  • Ensure all food is prepared, stored, and served safely, maintaining accurate food temperature records.
  • Manage food ordering and stock control while working within an agreed budget.
  • Take full responsibility for maintaining a clean, organised, and compliant kitchen.
  • Ensure all food hygiene, health and safety, and environmental health standards are met.
  • Work closely with the nursery team to provide an excellent dining experience for every child.
