Job Description

Room Leader – Level 3

Β£30,500 per year | 40 Hours per Week

This is an opportunity to take ownership of your room while staying closely involved in the part of Early Years that matters most – creating meaningful experiences for children.

You'll be joining an established nursery where play-based learning, strong relationships and children's individual development shape everyday practice. The setting's curriculum and pedagogy are designed to recognise that learning doesn't only happen during planned activities – it happens through conversations, routines, exploration and those spontaneous moments of curiosity throughout the day.

As Room Leader, you'll set the standard within your room, supporting practitioners to deliver consistently high-quality care while creating an environment where children feel secure, confident and excited to learn.

What We're Looking For

  • Full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification or above.
  • Previous experience working within a nursery or Early Years setting.
  • Previous senior or Room Leader experience would be advantageous.
  • Experience supporting children across different Early Years age groups would be beneficial.
  • Good understanding of the EYFS framework, child development and play-based learning.
  • Confidence leading and supporting practitioners within a room.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding and children's welfare.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with families.
  • A supportive, organised and hands-on approach to leadership.

More Than the Usual Benefits

  • Heavily discounted childcare
  • Wellbeing programme and sick pay
  • Benefits portal
  • Competitive annual leave package
  • Enhanced parental leave
  • Training and development
  • Paid Uber journeys from the train station to the nursery
  • Onsite parking
  • Financial wellbeing tools
  • Access to a dedicated employee support fund

Leading Your Room

  • Lead the day-to-day running of your room and provide guidance to practitioners.
  • Plan and deliver experiences in line with the nursery's curriculum
  • Recognise spontaneous learning opportunities and help colleagues extend children's interests.
  • Observe children's development and ensure appropriate next steps are identified.
  • Create an engaging environment that encourages exploration, imagination and play.
  • Support children's personal care while promoting confidence and independence.
  • Use everyday routines, including mealtimes and transitions, as meaningful opportunities for development.
  • Build secure relationships with children and strong partnerships with their families.
  • Support, mentor and motivate colleagues to maintain consistently high standards.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider nursery and management teams.
  • Maintain excellent standards of safeguarding, welfare, health and safety.

All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements, including an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references, and verification of the right to work in the UK, in line with safeguarding responsibilities.
