Room Leader – Toddler Room
£33,700 per year + Bonus Scheme | 40 Hours per Week
Toddlers are busy discovering what they can do – developing language, testing their independence and finding new ways to explore the world around them. This is an opportunity to lead a room designed to give them plenty of space and encouragement to do exactly that.
Recently renovated, this modern and bright nursery has been designed with children at its heart, creating engaging spaces that support learning through play and exploration. Outdoors, children can enjoy dedicated play areas alongside a quiet sensory space, giving them opportunities for both energetic adventures and calmer moments.
As Toddler Room Leader, you’ll set the standard for practice within your room, supporting your team to create meaningful experiences while ensuring each child receives the individual care and attention they need.
What We’re Looking For
- A full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification or above
- Previous experience within an Early Years setting
- Room Leader, Deputy Room Leader or senior practitioner experience would be beneficial
- Strong understanding of the EYFS, safeguarding and child development
- Good knowledge of the developmental needs of toddlers
- Confidence leading, supporting and motivating a room team
- Experience with observations, assessments and planning
- A warm, organised and positive approach to leadership
- Strong communication skills with colleagues and families

Leading Your Toddler Room
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the toddler room
- Lead and support practitioners to deliver consistently high-quality care
- Plan engaging experiences around children's interests and developmental needs
- Encourage toddlers to build confidence, communication and independence
- Make creative use of both indoor and outdoor learning environments
- Maintain accurate observations and development records
- Ensure safeguarding, ratios and nursery procedures are followed consistently
- Build positive relationships with parents and keep them involved in their child's development
- Create a happy, well-organised room where children and practitioners can thrive
