Job Description

Nursery Manager

£27,000 per annum

36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am–4:15pm, term time only

You will be managing a well-established nursery rated Good by Ofsted, providing care and early education for children aged 2–5 years in a welcoming community setting. The nursery has up to 45 places, with children learning together in one large room and benefiting from a spacious outdoor area. The setting has a strong community focus, with an emphasis on supporting children and families and working closely with other professionals. As Nursery Manager, you will spend three days working alongside the children and two days focused on management and administration, giving you a balanced role across practice and leadership.

What You’ll Need

  • Full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification
  • Previous experience as a Nursery Manager, Deputy Manager or highly confident Room Leader
  • Strong working knowledge of the EYFS and early years practice
  • Confident leadership skills and the ability to support and guide a small team
  • Clear understanding of safeguarding and nursery compliance requirements
  • Strong communication skills when working with children, families, colleagues and other professionals

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the day-to-day running of the nursery and maintain high standards of care and education
  • Spend three days each week working directly with children and supporting the team in practice
  • Use office-based time to manage planning, administration, staffing and other nursery responsibilities
  • Support the team to deliver effective EYFS practice and promote positive outcomes for children
  • Maintain effective safeguarding, health and safety and compliance procedures
  • Build positive relationships with parents, colleagues and external professionals
  • Identify training and development needs and support continued improvement across the setting
