Here at Williams, the largest independent supplier of plumbing and heating materials in the country, we're looking for a proven Commercial Manager to join our Commercial team at our central support offices in Fareham!
As our Commercial Manager, your focus will be growing sustainable profit by managing the commercial performance of product categories and other commercial initiatives. Industry knowledge is preferred, and we are particularly interested in speaking with candidates with exposure working in a similar commercial position for plumbing and heating merchants, plumbing and heating wholesalers, or generalist builders merchants or wholesalers.
As our Commercial Manager you'll be:
- Owning all aspects of your product category and proactively driving performance.
- Creating ambitious yet achievable strategies for product categories / suppliers and their implementation.
- Keeping informed on the performance of your category and the wider competitive landscape.
- Negotiating the best possible commercial terms with suppliers and monitoring their performance.
- Collaborating with multiple internal departments to drive GP influencing activities.
- Supporting our sales teams on topics regarding suppliers, products and pricing.
- Building strong relationships with suppliers and key strategic partners.
- Identifying and acting on realised commercial opportunities.
- Utilising various pricing models and creating promotions.
- Line managing a Commercial Assistant.
To achieve this, you'll have:
- A strong background in product, buying, sales, pricing, marketing, and supply chain.
- The ability to take considered and rounded analytical views that result in clear and strong decision making.
- Experience in creating and developing strategic plans that align with wider business goals.
- Experience in building and implementing successful product category strategies.
- A natural desire to unlock greater efficiencies and effectiveness from their team.
- The ability to move between strategic viewpoints and tactical action with ease.
- The courage to challenge the status quo in your drive for greater effectiveness.
- A proven track record of building strong internal and external relationships.
