An opportunity has arisen for a Transport Planner to join the team at GIF Transport. GIF is based in Dyce, Aberdeen. You will be planning for distance and international moves. With a growing modern fleet of state of the art trucks, our specialist drivers carry a wide variety of loads for the energy sector, foodstuffs, abnormal loads and general cargo. Working within a small team, you will be planning for a fleet of 20 vehicles, ensuring a consistent high quality service and working to our mantra of "where there's a will, there's a way".
GIF Transport was established in 2015 and provides a 24/7 road haulage service. In August 2025, GIF Transport became part of the Williams Shipping Group. Established in 1894, Williams Shipping is a family‐run marine and logistics business, with over 170 employees working from bases in Scotland, England and Wales.
Transport Planner Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Transport Manager.
- Utilising the transport management software to ensure that the scheduling of vehicles is carried out effectively and efficiently to achieve the optimum transport plan.
- Plan to ensure that customer service criteria requirements are met at all times.
- Ensure that the plan is clearly communicated to all necessary parties and maintain regular contact with customers.
- Liaise closely with the Warehouse team to achieve the most effective plan.
Requirements
- Experience of working in or alongside a Transport Planning Team.
- Experience within a logistics working environment.
- Able to work under pressure in a time critical environment.
- Ability to communicate at all levels.
- Analytical skills.
- Good geographical knowledge of UK.
- Reliable, enthusiastic and flexible in approach.
Salary & Benefits
45 hours/week, although you may be required to work additional hours as necessary, to meet the needs of the business.
