Are you an experienced Production Manager looking for an opportunity to take ownership of a large-scale night shift operation within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment? My client is a leading food manufacturer supplying major UK retailers and foodservice customers. Due to continued investment and growth, they are seeking an ambitious Night Production Manager to lead site-wide night shift operations and drive performance across safety, quality, service and cost.
This is a highly visible leadership role with significant responsibility, offering the opportunity to influence culture, develop teams and contribute to wider operational strategy.
The Role
As Night Production Manager, you will be responsible for leading cross-functional operational teams, ensuring production targets are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality and employee engagement. You will work closely with the wider leadership team to drive operational excellence, improve efficiencies and embed a culture of accountability and continuous improvement across the shift.
Shift: Monday - Friday, 10pm - 6am
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop large production teams within a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Drive performance across safety, quality, delivery and cost
- Ensure production plans are executed effectively and customer requirements are met
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence
- Monitor and improve key manufacturing KPIs
- Drive employee engagement, training and development initiatives
- Ensure compliance with GMP, food safety and quality standards
- Work collaboratively with Technical, Engineering, Planning and Supply Chain teams
- Support wider site improvement projects and operational strategy
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Proven experience leading large teams within food manufacturing or FMCG environments
- Strong understanding of production, packing and manufacturing operations
- Experience supplying major retail customers
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies
- Strong people leadership and coaching capability
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Strong understanding of food safety, quality and GMP standards
- Good IT and systems knowledge
Experience within meat processing, protein manufacturing, slicing, packing or other high-care food environments would be advantageous.
