We are looking for an Aero Concept Designer who thrives on challenge, thinks beyond the obvious, and wants to shape the future direction of a Formula 1 car. In the Aero Concept team, our mission is clear: reduce the time to aero intent. As an Aero Concept Designer, you'll help turn early aerodynamic ideas into high quality, FIA legal 3D surfacing models for both wind tunnel testing and full-scale development. Your work will directly influence how quickly aerodynamic intent becomes physical reality. This is more than just creating a CAD surface. This is about accelerating performance through precision aero design. You'll work closely with Aerodynamicists, Model Designers and Composite designers to deliver fast, robust geometry and support a culture that values high standards, open thinking and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the creation and delivery of high-quality concept surface models within specific aero development groups using CAD software.
- Producing robust, FIA-legal geometry that is fit for purpose and ready for Wind Tunnel and Full-Scale release.
- Work closely with Aerodynamicists, Model Designers and other design teams to ensure efficient implementation of aero projects.
- Supporting the WSR process when required, ensuring accurate, regulation-compliant geometry.
- Play an active role in surfacing reviews and cross-functional discussions.
- Identify opportunities to improve design practices, processes and workflows.
- Assist in reducing friction in the development cycle through cleaner geometry, smarter processes and faster iteration.
Technical skills matter, but mindset matters more. You're not someone who stops at option A. You're already thinking about options B, C, D and beyond and building concepts that can be iterated, refined and improved. You're curious by default. You seek information widely, ask questions early, and use engineering first principles as your anchor. You're process oriented, detail driven and motivated by doing things the right way, not just the fast way. We're looking for someone who is comfortable challenging standards when needed but is also able to get stuck in and deliver the job when it matters. You communicate clearly, collaborate with ease, and build strong relationships across disciplines. Above all, you're excited by the idea of shaping concepts that will be tested, challenged, developed and ultimately help drive the performance of a Formula One car.
Key Technical Skills & Experience
- Completed apprenticeship, HND or Degree in Mechanical, Product, Industrial or Automotive Engineering.
- Strong, transferrable engineering experience; motorsport exposure a bonus.
- Familiarity with Aero concepts and development.
- Advanced 3D CAD surfacing skills.
- Clear communicator with strong teamwork and presentation skills.
- Good project management awareness and ability to act decisively under pressure.
- Flexible when deadlines demand extra commitment.
