Overview
In this role you will secure and manage electronic components, wiring looms, sensors and control systems hardware for engineering-driven programs. You will work within engineering procurement to ensure specifications are communicated and requirements authorised, while driving timely deliveries and cost-effective contracts. You will lead tenders, optimise supplier base, and uphold traceability and counterfeit-avoidance. This position offers the chance to influence procurement in a fast-changing, high-performance environment.
Responsibilities
- Generate purchase orders for electronics components, control systems hardware and related services, ensuring engineering specs and approvals are communicated
- Expedite deliveries and provide regular delivery status to internal stakeholders
- Resolve non-conformances quickly to minimise delays
- Perform commercial checks on supplier terms and conditions to align with company requirements
- Lead tender processes for electronics and control systems commodities, creating contracts with clear deliverables
- Develop a strategic supplier base for electronics components, wiring looms, sensors and control systems hardware
- Carry out supplier audits (ESD, IPC-A-610/620, traceability where relevant)
- Check supplier acknowledgements and challenge lead times/obsolescence risks
- Optimise total value delivered to the team on time and to required quality, with focus on traceability and counterfeit avoidance
- Negotiate contracts that provide best value and rationalise supplier base
- Support the Procurement team to meet departmental performance targets and drive continuous improvement
- Promote the value of Procurement across the business and support health & safety policies
- Perform other tasks within capability as needed
Key requirements
- Previous procurement experience in a fast-changing engineering or manufacturing environment (ideally electronics or control systems)
- F1/Automotive/Motorsports procurement experience desired but not essential
- Understanding of technical drawings, schematics and BOMs; experience with electronic components, wiring looms, sensors, PCBs or control systems hardware is desirable
- Good problem solving and teamwork with initiative
- Awareness of obsolescence management, counterfeit-avoidance and traceability (e.g., IPC-A-610/620) is desirable
