Overview
In this role, you help shape the aero direction of a Formula 1 car by delivering high-quality, FIA-legal 3D surfacing models for wind tunnel testing and full-scale development. You work within the Aero Concept team to accelerate aero concepts from idea to physical reality, collaborating with aerodynamicists, model designers and composites. You will optimize geometry and processes to shorten development cycles and boost lap-time performance. This is a hands-on position that values curiosity, clarity and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Create and deliver high-quality concept surface models for aero development using CAD
- Produce robust FIA-legal geometry ready for wind tunnel and full-scale release
- Collaborate with Aerodynamicists, Model Designers and other design teams to implement aero projects
- Support WSR process to ensure regulation-compliant geometry
- Participate in surfacing reviews and cross-functional discussions
- Identify opportunities to improve design practices, processes and workflows
- Reduce development friction by delivering cleaner geometry and faster iterations
Key requirements
- Completed apprenticeship, HND or Degree in Mechanical, Product, Industrial or Automotive Engineering
- Strong, transferable engineering experience; motorsport exposure a bonus
- Familiarity with aero concepts and development
- Advanced 3D CAD surfacing skills
- Clear communication with strong teamwork and presentation skills
- Good project management awareness and ability to act under pressure
- Flexible when deadlines demand extra commitment
