As an apprentice Machinist within Williams Racing, you will be taught traditional trade skills and techniques as well as up to date manufacturing machine processes. You will be exposed to both Production and Prototype Manufacturing environments where you will learn how to manufacture various parts for the full size F1 car, 60 % scale model as well as associated jigs and fixtures for our Composite Manufacturing Department. You will gain a knowledge of how to work with a variety of ferrous and nonferrous materials as well as different polymers and composite materials.

You’ll learn a wide range of machining principles and techniques whilst being set projects and phase tests in line with your NVQ requirements which will be assessed at regular intervals. You will be exposed to the manufacturing environment where you will gain hands on experience in the manufacturing F1 car components alongside continuing with your studies.

We seek a confident, enthusiastic individual with a flexible attitude to work, as well as being a good team player with self-discipline for deadlines. A passion for engineering together with a willingness to learn is essential. Ideal candidates will have:

  • A strong interest in engineering, technology, or motorsport
  • A minimum of GCSEs in Maths, English, and Science (Grade 4/C or above) and A-Levels (or equivalent qualifications)
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Strong teamwork skills and an eagerness to work collaboratively
  • An ability to communicate effectively and professionally
