Requirements

ARE YOU FROM A FOUNDRY OR CASTINGS BACKGROUND AND HAVE EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH MOLTEN METAL?

The role of Foundry Caster would suit applicants who have experience as a production operative, machine operator, factory operative or similar from a foundry or heavy metals background. You must have worked with and had experience of the movement and testing of molten metal. You must have experience working to SOPS and to strict H&S guidelines.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Foundry Manager, the caster will be expected to undertake any duties within the foundry. The role will include:

  • Weighing up and preparing charges for the furnace
  • Testing metal
  • Making alloy alterations
  • Pecking furnaces
  • Sweeping and cleaning furnaces / casting area
  • Inspecting cast strip
  • Unloading cast coils
  • Completing all work documentation

Qualifications

  • Must have experience previously working within a heavy foundry environment
  • Casting metal experience ideally required
  • Must have experience recording and detailing metal temperatures
