Williams Lea seeks a Creative Team Leader to support in managing our on-demand design centre. The ideal candidate will have experience in leading and mentoring creative teams, delivering innovative and creative solutions, and ensuring high-quality design output. The successful candidate will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to provide design solutions that meet the client's expectations.

Our core focus is to deliver high quality corporate information. You will be working to drive an existing creative/design department to offer alternate solutions to pitchbook and marketing produced by the onsite document production and graphics operators for enhanced output. You will also be producing graphics and artwork using a variety of software programmes, servicing all departments. Graphics work includes:

  • Creating best-in‑class pitch deck slides in PPT
  • Elevating existing pitch deck design
  • Creating infographics and charts
  • Creating design concepts and art working for marketing campaigns, brochures, adverts, events and conference collateral

Multimedia work may include branded HTML emails, Flash animations/presentations and web publishing. Innovation is key, with the client actively encouraging new ideas, software, and solutions. Any member of the team must be forward thinking with the ability to adapt and develop.

Key responsibilities:

  • Meeting clients to discuss the business objectives and requirements of the job
  • Interpreting the client's business needs and developing a concept to suit their purpose
  • Thinking creatively to produce new ideas and concepts
  • Demonstrating illustrative skills with rough sketches
  • Project management, pre‑empting issues, coordinating artwork, print and delivery, web‑work
  • Design and art working from initial creative concepts through to final delivery
  • Presenting finalised ideas and concepts to clients
  • Liaising with external suppliers of services to ensure that work meets exact requirements as specified
  • Guiding and advising other members of the team in the design and use of template material, providing training where necessary
  • Following clearly defined department workflow processes including quality control and pre‑flight checking
  • Punctually completing time‑sheets, work tickets and giving an accurate reflection of time spent on all projects
  • Reporting on team KPI’s
  • Assisting with hiring, onboarding, and training new hires
  • Supervising and managing the existing creative team
  • Other duties as assigned by the Account Director

Personal attributes:

  • Previous work experience in people management/team leader role
  • Formally design trained with a relevant qualification in graphic design
  • An excellent knowledge and experience of printing techniques and issues
  • Able to develop compelling concepts and offer innovative design solutions within tight corporate design guidelines
  • Experience of estimating, project management, print buying and scheduling
  • Confidence to present and articulate ideas to clients and colleagues
  • The ability to balance work on several projects at a time

Technical skills:

  • Expert level PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
  • Intermediate Flash, Adobe Premiere and Dreamweaver
  • Strong Acrobat skills including advanced functions
  • Pre‑Press: highly experienced and expert at checking of files before sending to printers, including complex cutter guides, measurements and colour set up

Other attributes:

  • Calm and mature personality with the ability to work both on own initiative and in a team environment, often under pressure and to strict deadlines
  • Strong level of technical and creative design knowledge
  • Flexibility regarding working hours
  • Must demonstrate a client focused approach to providing a service through personal commitment to the client and their business
  • Good 'people skills' and keep clients informed of progress and the processes involved
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and delegate
