At Williams F1 Racing, good UX isn't a nice-to-have; it's a competitive advantage. We're looking for a UX Engineer who combines analytical rigour with design craft: someone who reaches for research data and usability evidence as naturally as they reach for Figma. You'll help shape the software used by some of motorsport's most specialised engineers, from real-time race data tools to aerodynamics simulation platforms. This is a rare opportunity to work with a highly specialised user base on state-of-the-art tools spanning simulations, real-time data, bespoke analysis, and operational excellence. Your designs will be used both throughout our factory and trackside.
We view Software and Data as critical drivers in our mission to advance up the grid. We justify design decisions with evidence, not instinct, and treat user research and analytics as essential inputs, not optional validation.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Run research workshops and user groups to deeply understand the needs of stakeholders across Williams Racing.
- Conduct usability testing on new, existing, and in-development applications to surface meaningful UX improvements.
- Design intuitive, user-friendly interfaces through wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI mock-ups.
- Collaborate with the UX Lead, product managers, and developers to map user workflows and align designs with business and technical constraints.
- Iterate on designs using real feedback, analytics, and behavioural insights.
- Contribute to design systems and component libraries, championing consistency and reusability.
- Apply brand guidelines, typography, colour schemes, and design language consistently across all your work.
- Support inclusive design principles and accessibility standards within our design system.
THE ENVIRONMENT
You'll be embedded in our Software Development group alongside teams focused on Aerodynamics, Vehicle Dynamics, and Vehicle Performance. Our estate spans desktop and web applications, data visualisation tools, and trackside software — all being modernised toward cloud-native architectures. It's a fast-paced environment where your work will be felt in the factory and on the pitwall.
Qualifications
Core skills

- FigJam or collaborative whiteboarding tools for workshops and requirements capture.
- Evidence-led design — research and usability data over instinct.
- Experience identifying personas and conducting usability testing.
- Clear communication across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Passion for design systems, accessibility, brand consistency, and iterating on quality.
Nice to have
- Front-end development: HTML, CSS, JavaScript (React preferred).
- Experience working in agile / kanban / scrum environments.
- Understanding of how UX design fits into product strategy and technical architectures.
- Background in aerodynamics, data science, vehicle dynamics, or computer simulations.
- Curiosity about how agentic AI tools are changing design and discovery workflows.
