We are seeking a Director of Administration to manage the financial, personnel and administrative functions for the academic and business operations of Williams College (USA) in the UK. The role directly supports the faculty director of this study-abroad programme, oversees 3-4 staff members, and interfaces regularly with 26 visiting undergraduate students at Oxford University. This is an exciting opportunity to join our small community and to work with us in partnership with Exeter College to provide full access to Oxford University resources for the students enrolled in the programme.

The successful candidate will be responsible for reporting to the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs at Williams College and for providing a wide range of support to the faculty director, who serves as the chief academic officer for the programme in Oxford. The Director of Administration serves in a complementary role to oversee the programme’s logistical and business operations. Thus, the role is responsible for:

  • Financial administration
  • Property management
  • Staff oversight
  • Health and safety
  • Hospitality and catering
  • Student support including immigration documentation and employment assignments

The Director of Administration also serves as a key point of continuity for Williams College in Oxford, participating as a member of the Association of American Study Abroad Programmes in the UK, liaising with local governing bodies, and communicating with statutory organisations such as the Charity Commission and Companies House.

You must hold a Bachelor’s degree and have substantial progressive relevant experience ideally as an academic administrator or study-abroad programme coordinator. You must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and have a thorough knowledge of both Microsoft Word and Excel. Excellent organisational, quantitative, and interpersonal skills are essential as is the ability to work independently and to successfully handle multiple tasks. You must possess excellent judgement and be resourceful. Experience with managing and supervising staff is also desirable. You must possess work authorization in the U.K.
